PENGU Inflation Analysis · October 2026 · Supply growing · projected to keep growing
PENGU supply that people can trade is growing every month, and nothing pulls it back. In the 90 days to Oct 8 2026, the team and company behind Pudgy Penguins released 1.56B PENGU from their holding wallets, while nothing was bought back, burned by the protocol or locked away. That is +2.48% of the 62.86B PENGU counted as circulating, and three more monthly release days fall in the next 90 days. No new PENGU can ever be minted, so the whole question is how fast the 20.93B PENGU still held by the team and the company comes out.
The verdict, in one paragraph
The MrNasdog Pressure Framework reads Pudgy Penguins at +2.48% net new supply over the last 90 days and +2.48% for the next 90 days. Our inflation monitor reads only +0.08%, a gap of 2.41 percentage points, so the page carries a ⚠ monitor-gap chip. The gap has one clear cause: the circulating figure the monitor reads has stayed near 62.86B PENGU every day since launch on Dec 17 2024. It equals launch supply minus the team and company share, and it was never raised when that share started to unlock after the Dec 17 2025 cliff. The PENGU wallets on the Solana chain show the coins moving; the monitor's input does not. PENGU is a fixed-supply brand token with a steady insider release: no printing, but a monthly flow of team coins into the market.
Sell pressure: where new PENGU comes from
Protocol inflation is 0. PENGU is a standard Solana token, and the key that could mint more PENGU has been switched off for good, which is a one-way change on Solana. There is no staking reward, no emission schedule and no mining. The supply can only go down, when holders burn coins.
Vesting unlocks are the whole story at 1.56B PENGU in 90 days. At launch, the team (17.8%) and the company, Igloo Inc. (11.48%), received 26.03B PENGU together, locked for one year and then paid out over 36 months. On launch day that whole share went to one custody wallet, which split it into grant wallets for people and units. We read every one of those wallets on the Solana chain at both ends of the window. Their combined balance fell from 22.49B to 20.93B PENGU, and the main custody wallet closes to the last coin: what it held on Jul 17 2026, minus every transfer since, equals what it holds today. The coins left on three release days, Jul 17, Aug 17 and Sep 17 2026, then moved on to exchanges and trading wallets.
The 36-month calendar allows about 723M PENGU a month, or 2.17B in 90 days, so the real release ran at about 72% of the allowance. Some personal grant wallets skipped months and paid two at once; a few large ones have not started selling at all. That leaves the custody wallets about 2.13B PENGU behind the calendar, a backlog that could come out faster later.
Foundation and unscheduled unlocks book 0. The launch wallet still holds about 5.01B PENGU and pays out around 3.7M a month, but those coins were counted as circulating from day one, so moving them adds nothing new. Long-term locked or bankruptcy supply is also 0: no estate or court is paying out PENGU, and the small share for old FTX token holders was paid at launch.
Buy pressure: where new PENGU goes
Every buy row is 0. There is no programmatic buyback: no contract, company wallet or treasury buys PENGU on a schedule, and no buyback has been announced with a size or a wallet. There is no protocol fee burn, because PENGU has no fees of its own. The one big burn, about 12.17B unclaimed airdrop PENGU, happened in early 2025, long before this window; since then holders burn a few thousand PENGU a week by choice, too little to show.
There is no foundation buy either. On Oct 6 2026, Igloo said it will close its Abstract network on Dec 15 2026 and put its money and people into Pudgy Penguins and PENGU, but no PENGU purchase by the company shows on-chain or in any announcement. And there is no new long-term lock: PENGU has no staking or lock-up program, so nothing takes coins off the market for a long time.
Foundation and overhang
The tracked overhang is large. The team and company custody wallets still hold 20.93B PENGU, about a third of the circulating count: 7.37B in the main custody wallet and the rest in roughly 70 grant wallets, several holding between 0.92B and 1.17B PENGU that did not move at all in this window. These are already in the vesting row as they leave, and we read them on the chain at every refresh. The launch wallet adds 5.01B PENGU, inside the circulating count, paying out slowly. No buyback wallet exists.
If any of these balances falls between refreshes faster than the monthly pattern, the outflow enters the sell side at the next refresh. The quiet grant wallets are the ones to watch: if they start selling, the monthly release can jump well above the 520M PENGU average of this window.
How PENGU compares to other meme coins
Most large meme coins fall into one of two shapes. Coins like Dogecoin print new coins forever: 10,000 DOGE for every block, a fixed amount, so its supply grows a little each year with no end. Coins like Shiba Inu or Bonk put almost all of their supply on the market early and then only shrink it with burns. PENGU is neither. Like Dogecoin it has no burn engine, but unlike Dogecoin it can never print another coin. Like Shiba Inu its supply is fixed, but unlike Shiba Inu a big insider share is still locked and coming out.
The closest match is a brand or insider-heavy token with a long unlock calendar, such as the TRUMP coin, where most of the supply also sits with insiders and comes out on a multi-year schedule. In that shape the supply reading is set by one thing: how fast the insiders release. For PENGU that is about 2.5% of the circulating count every 90 days, until the calendar ends in Nov 2028, unless the backlog speeds it up.
PENGU also differs from meme coins with a business that buys back. Pudgy Penguins sells toys, games and licenses through Igloo, but none of that money is tied to buying or burning PENGU today. A coin whose company buys its own token can offset unlocks; PENGU has no such buyer.
What to watch in the next 90 days
Oct 17 2026: the next monthly team and company release. This window's three release days averaged about 520M PENGU each.
Nov 17 2026 and Dec 17 2026: two more release days. If the quiet grant wallets of 0.92B to 1.17B PENGU start paying out, each release could grow toward the 723M calendar amount or more.
Dec 15 2026: Abstract, Igloo's own network, shuts down. It does not create or destroy PENGU, but watch whether Igloo turns its new focus on PENGU into a buyback or a lock-up, which would add a real buyer.
The monitor's circulating input: if it is ever raised to match the coins already released, the monitor's reading will jump for one window and then settle near ours.
Summary
The MrNasdog Pressure Framework reads PENGU at +2.48% net over the last 90 days and +2.48% for the next 90 days: supply growing, projected to keep growing. Pudgy Penguins can never mint another PENGU, but the team and company released 1.56B PENGU from their holding wallets in 90 days and still hold 20.93B, with nothing on the buy side to absorb it. The key risk is the backlog: the release is running about 2.13B PENGU behind its calendar, so it could speed up before it ends in Nov 2028.
